Detroit-area company brings its frictionless design philosophy to life with new campaign

Whisker, the global leader in connected cat care and maker of Litter-Robot®, today unveiled “The Future is Feline,” a new brand platform reflecting a shift in pet ownership and how it can be rethought through innovation. Grounded in a simple idea – the best design doesn’t manage friction, it removes it entirely – the initiative challenges long-held assumptions about pet ownership and the defaults that have shaped it.

For decades, pet care has been shaped by routines many people simply accept as part of the deal. With Litter-Robot, Whisker eliminated one of the most persistent of those routines – scooping – creating a cleaner, more convenient way to live with a cat. It’s a shift that’s hard to replicate with other types of pets. “The Future is Feline” builds on that foundation, extending Whisker’s thinking beyond product into a broader perspective on modern living. As expectations around convenience, cleanliness, and the home evolve, the company sees an opportunity to rethink not just how people care for their pets, but what that relationship should feel like.

The idea comes to life in a new campaign anchored by a series of TV spots that highlight the contrast between traditional and emerging models of pet ownership. In one, a dog owner stands outside in the rain handling a late-night routine while nearby, a cat – and presumably their owner – remains comfortably inside, using a Litter-Robot in a warm, thoughtfully designed home. It’s a playful nod to the long-held idea of dogs as “man’s best friend,” while suggesting a more convenient, design-forward pet alternative.

“Somewhere along the way, cats became the punchline,” said Whisker CMO, Hew Loyd. “For a long time, pet ownership has largely been shaped around dogs, and everything else has been secondary.

“What’s changing now isn’t cats – it’s what people expect from the experience. When that shifts, cats start to look a lot more compelling.

He continued, “We’re here to ‘legalize’ cats, if you will, and that shows up in everything we do – from the products we build to how we think about pet ownership.”

Headquartered in Metro Detroit, Whisker has built its reputation by rethinking one of the most persistent pain points in cat care. With this direction, the company is extending that approach into a broader cultural conversation about what a more seamless, considered, and modern relationship with pets can look like. The campaign rolls out across YouTube, CTV, and other digital channels today. Visit whisker.com/future-is-feline to view the TV spots and learn more about “The Future is Feline.”
