1 - SINGLE INGREDIENT
Litter, straight up.
All natural. One ingredient: Bentonite Clay. No chemicals. No added fragrance. No dyes. No fillers. Nothing weird. Just naturally sun-dried clay. So you can feel good about what's in their box. And more importantly, what isn't.
2 - SUN-DRIED
Lit by sunlight.
Lit is left to dry in pure Wyoming sunshine. The natural drying process is what creates a litter with less dust, less tracking, that’s softer on your cats’ paws (which, let’s be real, is the most important part).
3 - ELITE CLUMPING
Clumps like a damn champ.
Sodium Bentonite clay is a natural-born clumper, absorbing liquid fast and forming quick, tight clumps that instantly lock in odors, waste less litter, and leave more clean litter in the box.
4 - LOW DUST
Not a cloud in sight.
Our clay is dried by pure Wyoming sunshine for softer granules, stronger clumps, and naturally less dust. Clouds just aren’t in the forecast anymore.
5 - LOW TRACKING
A clean getaway.
Lit’s soft, sun-dried granules are less likely to hitch a ride on your cat’s tiny toe beans, keeping litter right where you want it and not where you don’t.
As a veterinarian, I love that it’s a single-ingredient, sun-dried clay that’s gentle on cat paws. And as a cat parent, I really appreciate how clean and fresh it keeps my home, with very little tracking or mess left behind.

Frequently asked questions
Why Lit?
What is Lit Premium Cat Litter? Is it the best litter for Litter-Robot?
We have rebranded our premium cat litter as Lit (formerly GreatLitter). It is the same all-natural, single-ingredient cat litter, with a great new name. Thanks to its odor-reducing, quick-clumping clay formula, Lit continues to be the best litter for Litter-Robot.
What is sodium bentonite cat litter? Why use it?
Bentonite cat litter is made from sodium bentonite, a natural clay that absorbs liquid fast and swells into tight clumps. Lit is 100% sodium bentonite with nothing added, so it traps ammonia odor at the source, and each clump scoops out cleanly, leaving more fresh litter in the box. Sodium bentonite naturally exhibits the scent-trapping properties of baking soda, so there’s no need to add chemicals or perfumes. It forms hard, tight clumps fast and locks in odor by drawing up liquid and isolating that telltale ammonia smell. We take great care to preserve these qualities during the drying and sifting process, so you can be sure there’s nothing better for your cat or your cat’s litter box.
Is this litter safe for my cat?
Our premium cat litter is safe for your cat because it is all-natural, with no added chemicals or perfumes. In fact, it’s only made with one ingredient: sodium bentonite clay, dried with the power of the sun.
Can kittens use clumping litter like Lit?
Not right away. Kittens sometimes eat litter, and if they ingest clay-clumping litter, it can expand in their stomachs and cause harm. Until your kitten is several months old, you may wish to use non-clumping or plant-based litter.
Additional FAQ
Does Lit control litter box odor?
Yes, Lit is very efficient at blocking litter box odors. Lit’s single ingredient, natural sodium bentonite, is especially effective for odor control, as it clumps quickly and locks in odors through natural chemistry. Lit is also naturally unscented, which better contributes to odor control than perfumed cat litter and is typically preferred by cats.
Is Lit dust-free?
Nearly, but not 100%. No clay litter is completely dust-free. Lit is low dust because its sodium bentonite clay is dried by Wyoming sunshine. That gentler process makes softer granules that hold together, so you get very little dust when you pour or scoop.
How should I transition my cat to Lit?
Most cats will transition to new litter right away. If Litter-Robot is the first automatic litter box for your kitty, we recommend gradually introducing Lit by slowly mixing it in with your current litter brand until they have completely transitioned to Litter-Robot and Lit!
How long does a bag of litter last?
Typically, one 20-lb. bag of litter per cat will last one month. Our litter lasts longer than many other brands because our sun-dried clay is known for its superior ability to absorb liquids and clump quickly. This results in tighter clumps and less litter used. How long a bag of litter lasts also depends on how many cats you have, their size and waste habits, and what type of litter box they use. For example, a self-cleaning litter box like Litter-Robot helps reduce litter usage by up to 50% as compared to scooping a traditional litter box.
